Precision spectroscopy and quantum information with trapped molecular ions

We aim to demonstrate the creation of superpositions of rotational states in a diatomic
molecular ion built using a combination of microwaves and stimulated Raman transitions
driven by two beams from an optical frequency comb. This could pave the way for certain
quantum error correction codes which use a trapped molecule as the basis for a logical qubit.
