About Me

I am a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Philipp Schindler’s QCosmo project in Prof. Rainer Blatt’s Quantum Optics and Spectroscopy group at Universität Innsbruck. I received my Ph.D. in physics at the University of Texas at Austin in 2021 in Professor Michael Downer’s Femtosecond Spectroscopy Group. I received my B.A. in physics and mathematics at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota in 2012.

I am studying quantum control of external degrees of freedom of trapped molecular ions using techniques such as Raman frequency comb spectroscopy. The ultimate aim of this research is to enable quantum error correction using molecular codes to make trapped ion quantum computing fault-tolerant with considerably less resource overhead than is currently possible.

I am interested in applying what I have learned in my courses and working with lasers, optics, experimental systems, and interdisciplinary groups to new areas of exciting research in quantum computing, quantum information science, and applications of quantum optics.

I love to travel and enjoy being outdoors. I like rock climbing, skiing, hiking, via ferrata, running, reading, and baking pizza.
